Practice Kindness

Small things done with great love will change the world.

As a church we are constantly thinking up new ways to reach out to our community with God's kindness. It might be through giving away a bottle of water on a hot day or an umbrella on a rainy day. It might be an offer to clean the staff toilets at a number of retail businesses in town. One great little act of kindness is when you pay someone's bill in a cafe, asking the staff member to pass on a note after you've left that says, "We just wanted to show you God's kindness today - we hope it has helped you out".

We believe that our actions can win the heart before they confront the mind. A small act of kindness has the power to nudge a person closer to God, often in a profound way as it bypasses their mental defences.

What's more, it's just so simple!!! We describe it as a low risk, high grace activity that anyone within the church can participate in. The average person is willing to hand a stranger a cold bottle of water on a hot day (low risk). The high grace is seen in the typical reaction. “Oh, thank you!” “This is so nice!” “I can’t believe this is for free!” And, “Why are you doing this?”

Kindness builds the bridge for the person to receive a touch of love from God. It’s simple, practical, effective, inexpensive and fun!
